Introduction

Introduction

Hello, and welcome to my blog and my very first blog post! I've been thinking about starting a little blog for a while now. It seems like a nice way to share more about new jewelry, upcoming collection releases and thoughts/musings.  So first things first, introductions are in order…
I’m Anna (pronounced Ah-nuh), and I am the one woman show behind StarGaze Studio. My jewelry making passion began way back in high school where I briefly took an introduction to metalsmithing class. Fast forward to 2019, I finally picked up a torch again after dreaming about it for many many years. I took one weekend course on metalsmithing at a local art school, ordered up the most basic and inexpensive tools I could find and got to work learning. My first pieces were pretty terrible. But like most things in life, the more you practice the better you get. I started slowly, making jewelry in my spare time. About a year ago, with a lot of hope and a huge dose of "what the hell am I getting myself into", I took the leap into metalsmithing as my sole career. And here I am today, not an expert by any means, but loving the creative process and so grateful to be making a living with my hands.

My pieces are all heavily inspired by the breathtaking and awe inspiring beauty of nature. All of my life, when I look back at the times when I felt the most belonging, the most peace and the most at home; always, always were when I was outside surrounded by nature. Metalsmithing is like a bridge for me between the natural and the human-made world. When I am sitting at my bench sawing and soldering metal it feels like the most deeply magical process. A connection to the spirit of nature through the metals and stones that come from this incredible earth.

Of course, it’s my deepest wish that my creations will bring out that same feeling of magic and connection in you when you wear them. And that they will become treasured heirlooms to pass on through generations.

Thank you for being here.
